2019 RAM 1500 vs 2018 Ford F-150
The pickup truck segment is a highly popular one. Over the past several years, trucks like the RAM 1500 have become more than workhorse haulers; they’ve also become more elegant, offering the perfect mix between power and luxury. If you’re looking at purchasing a new pickup truck, whether it’s your first one or you’ve driven them for years, there’s a lot to consider. Two of the most popular models are the 2019 RAM 1500 and the 2018 Ford F-150.
To give you some information when it comes to picking your next pickup, we here at Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep are taking a closer look at what separates the two.
The RAM 1500 is all-new for the 2019 model year, getting a complete redesign and shedding nearly 225 pounds from the previous version thanks to using lighter aluminum materials. Meanwhile, the 2018 Ford F-150 largely carries over the same looks and feel of earlier models.
As far as engines go, the 2019 RAM truck stands out for its unique use of a hybrid engine assist technology called eTorque. This hybrid system stores electricity in a lithium battery which helps in adding power and with the engine’s start-stop system. The Ford F-150 doesn’t incorporate any similar technology within its engine lineup.
Both trucks offer a variety of cab styles with varying bed lengths, as well as several engine options. In the 2019 RAM 1500, however, the base engine has the upper hand—the 3.6-liter V6 engine puts out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The base powertrain in the Ford F-150 is a 3.3-liter V6, which is only capable of 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.
The Ford F-150 and RAM 1500 both offer a cargo bed feature to optimize cargo-carrying capabilities, but only one features a draining function for versatile use: the RamBox® Cargo Management System in the RAM 1500. There is also a 115-volt power outlet and remote access in the RAM truck. The new RAM 1500 also features a new nitrogen- and oil-charged dampened tailgate, which provides flawless maneuverability no matter the weather.
While both models come equipped with an impressive range of amenities and capabilities, we think the 2019 RAM 1500 takes the cake. Visit us today at 100 W Coliseum Blvd to get behind the wheel of the 2019 RAM 1500 for a test drive.
