Car Buying Myths

January 7th, 2018 by

You can get tips on buying a car from family, friends, and especially online. However, not all of these tips will be helpful to you and some of them are downright false. As your used Jeep® dealership in Fort Wayne, IN, Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM and FIAT want to help you see through some of the more popular car buying myths.

Rainy Days
This myth has two facets that both happen to be false.
1. People don’t car shop on rainy days.

2. Due to that fact, the lot will be empty and the dealers will be more eager to make a favorable deal.

Let’s attack the second part first. We hold ourselves to the same level of customer service no matter how many customers may be on the lot. This is a fact that, in this case. is rendered moot by the fact that rainy days are often busier than sunny ones. It is the very perception that they are less busy that leads them to become busier. In truth, the best time to buy a car is whenever you feel you need one.

Surprise Trade-Ins
This is a myth of a bygone era, that wasn’t true then and is especially untrue now. The basic idea is to keep the fact that you have a trade-in a secret until a deal has been finalized on your new car like the 2018 RAM 1500, then spring the trade-in at the end. The belief is that if the dealer knows about the trade-in from the start they will either mark-up the new car or undervalue the trade-in.

At Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM and FIAT we give you a fair price for our new cars and a fair evaluation of your trade-in. We even encourage you to find out the market value of your trade-in on our Dodge website.
