Engines and You: What You Need

December 15th, 2018 by

We at Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep® are here to help you get the best deals on vehicles like the RAM 1500, Jeep Wrangler, and muscle cars like the Dodge Challenger. However, it’s important to know about the engines that run all your favorite vehicles. When you’re looking for the right car to traverse Indianapolis, IN, the right engine makes sure that you’re going to get the power and performance you need. Today, we want to give you a quick rundown on some of the engines that make our vehicles run, and what they excel at.

Four-Cylinder

As the name suggests, this engine uses four cylinders in a line straight up and down, as opposed to the off-to-the-side design of the V-model powertrains. You find these mainly in cars and smaller SUVs, like the FIAT 124 Spider and Dodge Journey. While four-cylinder engines are the most economical of the offerings, they don’t sacrifice power, especially with current turbocharging technology implemented in various options.

V6

The noble V6 is the cornerstone engine for so many Jeep, RAM, and Dodge muscle car vehicles. The 2019 Dodge Charger implements a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 in select trims, which provides the torque and performance that a Challenger needs. That same engine also powers the 2019 RAM 1500 to provide a towing capacity of 6,280 lb and a payload of 1,528 lb. You may not see the best fuel efficiency, but in terms of practicality, this is the perfect compromise.

V8

Now we’re getting crazy. The V8 is the most powerful engine we use, and the V8 HEMI® brings superior performance and incredible horsepower and torque to vehicles like the 2018 RAM 2500 and the 2018 Dodge Challenger. These machines provide you with insane performance and let you power through challenges and set new records on the race track.

What are you waiting for? Check out the various engine offerings for yourself today at Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep. See you soon!
