Learn More from Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram!

The Dodge Challenger shook up the automotive industry in 1969 when it was introduced as the quintessential American muscle car. After more than a decade of success, Dodge has made the impossible decision to discontinue the current third-generation Dodge Challenger as the brand continues marching into the future. Before making its exit, the 2023 Dodge Challenger lineup includes four special edition models, named Last Call, to honor its five decades of domination in the American muscle car market. Here at Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, we're excited to take this chance to share the details of the 2023 Dodge Challenger Last Call lineup! Below, you can take a close look at the Dodge Challenger Shakedown, Swinger, Black Ghost, and Demon 170 Last Call special edition models!

What Was the First Last Call Challenger?

The first Challenger Last Call special edition Dodge introduced is called Shakedown. The 2016 SEMA auto show saw the unveiling of the Dodge Challenger Shakedown. It was a concept car that never came to production but was more to show off just what the brand was capable of. However, in 2023, that very model joined the production line for a limited release! The Shakedown uses the R/T Scat Pack or R/T Scat Pack Widebody, featuring a 485-horsepower 6.4L HEMI V8 as its platform. Available in Destroyer Gray or Pitch Black, the Challenger Shakedown features matte black 'Shakedown' stripes with a contrasting red accent. The hood features Mopar's unique 'Shaker' hood scoop, an iconic feature that has been available for the Challenger since 1970. Red Brembo high-performance brake calipers contrast the Shakedown's 20x9.5-inch Low Gloss Black Slingshot Wheels. Other exterior features include red '392' front fender badges and a black hood pin kit from Mopar. While Shakedown models that use the R/T Scat Pack feature a red/black 'R/T' grille badge, the R/T Scat Pack Widebody models come with an all-black 'R/T' badge on the grille.

Retro-Inspired Swinger

The Swinger comes along next to honor Dodge's Swinger models, a lineup of high-performance muscle cars from the 1970s. This nostalgia is brought on by White Knuckle, F8 Green, or Sublime Green exterior paint jobs. The retro style is delivered by the Swinger's Gold School gold accents on the 20x9.5-inch wheels and the badges on the spoiler, grille, and '392' lettering on the front fender. Additionally, the Swinger also features the Shaker hood with Gold School lettering. Behind the Gold School wheels, you'll see contrasting black Brembo brake calipers. Meanwhile, the rear fenders feature a vinyl 'Swinger' decal with a retro-style font. The interior of the Challenger Swinger features ModGrain aluminum bezels with a simulated wood finish, Nappa leather/Alcantara seats with Basil Green accent stitching, and a distinctive 'Swinger' instrument panel badge on the passenger side.

What Is the Dodge Challenger Black Ghost?

The Black Ghost gets its name from an iconic 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, owned by a Detroit police officer named Godfrey Qualls, that tore up Detroit's famed Woodward Avenue before disappearing into the night, earning its name. Honoring that vehicle, which can now be found in the National Historic Vehicle Register, the 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is built on the platform of the SRT Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak trim, featuring an 807-horsepower supercharged 6.2L V8 engine. Given its name, you may expect that the Challenger Black Ghost features an all-black appearance. This appearance is brought on by a Pitch Black paint job, 20x11-inch Satin Carbon Warp Speed alloy wheels, and a black gator skin roof vinyl. Meanwhile, small details are added to contrast the vehicle's darkness, including a white decklid graphic, mirroring the one seen on the original Black Ghost, and Bright Chrome accents on the grille, spoiler, and fender flare accents as well as the fuel filler door. Inside the Black Ghost, you'll find a black flat-bottom Alcantara steering wheel, a Dynamica suede headliner overhead, black Laguna leather/Alcantara seats, and real carbon fiber bezels.

Unleash the Demon

Dodge introduced the Challenger Demon in 2018, creating the brand's fastest, most powerful vehicle to date. While production was limited to the 2018 model year, stories of its power continued to spread for years. To honor the legendary Demon, Dodge is bringing it back for the 2023 Last Call lineup with even more power than before! Under the hood is a 6.2L HEMI V8 with a three-liter C170 Hellephant supercharger from Dodge Direct Connection to provide a 40% increase in boost and a 30% increase in engine airflow compared to the Challenger Hellcat Redeye's supercharger. With its more powerful engine, the Demon 170 delivers a breathtaking 1,025 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. This power translates into a mind-boggling 1.66-second 0-60 time and 8.91-second quarter-mile time, both certified by the National Hot Rod Association. Furthermore, the Demon 170 delivers an astonishing 2.004 Gs of gravitational force at launch. While the Demon's engine is inspired by the Hellcat's, virtually every major component is replaced with more high-performance parts, including fuel injectors, spark plugs, and many more. The Demon 170 is the only production muscle car to come with staggered wheel fitment, featuring Mickey Thomson ET Street drag radials spanning 275 millimeters in the front and 315 millimeters in the rear. In order to make the Demon 170 legal for NHRA competitions, it must come equipped with the roll cage and parachute that are available from the factory. The Demon 170 stands out with an enlarged hood scoop and demon head badge on the front fenders with a yellow jewel eye and '170' neck tattoo.
